Several news sources are reporting that Mark Meadows today filed a desperate plea begging for an IMMEDIATE extension of his deadline to surrender himself at the Fulton County Jail under RICO charges brought by Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis in Georgia, claiming:
Immediate Relief Is Necessary to Prevent a State Arrest That Would Irreparably Deprive Mr. Meadows of Protection Under Federal Law
By some twisted logic he MUST have more time to find some way to remove his case to federal court.
My girl Fani responded immediately via email:
I am not granting any extensions. I gave 2 weeks for people to surrender themselves to the court. Your client is no different than any other criminal defendant in this jurisdiction. The two weeks was a tremendous courtesy. At 12:30 pm on Friday I shall file warrants in the system.
Boom baby!
NYT is also now reporting on the matter.
Judge Steve C. Jones of United States District Court in Atlanta ordered Ms. Willis’s office on Tuesday to reply to the motion for an emergency stay by Wednesday at 3 p.m.
For the record, my money has always been on DA Willis to be the one to slam the jailhouse door on Donald Trump once and for all. Ever since she declared, “This is not a game” with almost chilling sangfroid, she has been my pick. I have absolute confidence in her to treat the accused equally and without fear or favor. I look forward to the parade of RICO defendants over the next few days, Mark Meadows included, with popcorn in hand.
